Employer Guide to On-Campus Interview Schedules

At SF State, our diversity is our strength. To meet hiring needs, many employers appreciate SF State for its high quality students representing a multicultural and diverse background that reflects the San Francisco Bay Area and the face of the nation. 

The On-Campus Interviewing (OCI) Program gives employers the opportunity to interview SF State students and recent graduates in our interview rooms for internship, part-time, or full-time positions. The Office of Career Services offers 2 interview rooms and an open meeting space for reservation free of charge.

To schedule an OCI date, please submit your request online using your GatorJOBS account and send an email stating your request to recruit@sfsu.edu. If you have not been contacted within 2-3 days of your request, please call our office at (415) 338-1761. We recommend that you allocate a minimum 4 weeks to begin this process to give enough time to complete logistics and prepare for the interview date.


Recruitment Period

OCIs occur during the fall and spring semesters.

  • Spring 2017: February 6 – April 28 (except 3/20-25, 3/31)

Interviews can be scheduled Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Rooms are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. We strongly recommend reserving interview rooms AT LEAST 4 weeks in advance of your interview date.

To request an on-campus interview date

  • Hover over on the On-Campus Interviewing tab and click Request New Schedule.
  • Fill in required fields marked with red asterisks.
  • Select a Schedule Type: Open, Preselect, Preselect Continuous, Resume Collection, & Rooms Only

1. OPEN –Any students who meet the requirements can sign up for an interview timeslot.

2. PRESELECT –Any students who meet the requirements of the job that is linked to the schedule can submit an interview request. Once the deadline is reached, employers review interview requests and make decisions on all interview candidates. Alternate interview candidates may be selected. Accepted candidates must wait to sign up for an interview until the sign-up date is reached. Alternate candidates must wait to sign up for an interview until the alternate sign-up date is reached.

3. PRESELECT CONTINUOUS –Students who meet the requirements can submit an interview request. The employer reviews interview requests and makes interview decisions on an ongoing basis. Alternate interview candidates may NOT be selected. Students can sign up as soon as an interview decision has been made for their interview request.

4. RESUME COLLECTION – This type of schedule does not have an interview date. It is only used to collect resumes. If enough resumes are collected, you may decide to come on campus to conduct interviews. If this happens, the schedule can easily be changed to a Preselect schedule.

5. ROOMS ONLY – This request is only a room booking which means you create your own interview schedule and make contacts with the students. This type of schedule is not visible to students in the system.

  • Assign Jobs

o   You can select an active job that is already created, copy an inactive job and then edit it as needed (after submission) or choose to add a new job.

  • Note: For Preselect Schedules, please keep in timeline dates in mind to allocate enough time for students to view and apply to the posting, for you to select your picks, and for students to sign up in your interview schedule. You will be contacted by our office to create a timeline.

To view or make changes to the OCI Interview Schedule or Linked Job

  • Hover over the On-Campus Interviewing tab and click View Schedule List.
  • Click on the Schedule ID to access each function below.

o   To make changes to the job descriptions, click on the Job ID.

§  You may edit Posting Information, Contact Information and Position Information.  

o   To view the schedule for each interviewer/room, click on the Session ID (about mid-way on the page). Please contact our office if you need to make changes to the timeslot schedule.  

o   To view students that have submitted their resume for consideration, click on Manage Preselects on the upper left-hand side of the page.

To Select Students and Student Sign-up

You can make selections once the resume submission period has closed (Preselect Schedules).

  • Hover over the On-Campus Interviewing tab and click View Schedule List.
  • Click on the Schedule ID.
  • Click on Manage Preselects on the upper left-hand side of the page.
  • Next to each student’s name, select Accept or Not Accept for interview. Then click Save Picks at the bottom of the screen. Students will receive automated messages regarding their status once your picks have been submitted.

On-Campus Interview Confirmation

One week prior to the interview date, you will receive an email containing directions and parking logistics. Please read thoroughly and forward the email to all interviewers coming to campus.

Report a Hire

After completing On-Campus Interviews, please report a hire via GatorJOBS or contact the Office of Career Services.
